Fighting Irish head coach Charlie Weis is trying to recruit the nations top linebacker prospect that happens to play his high school football in Hawaii. So Notre Dame needs a good effort here and will bring focus to this game. The Notre Dame captains have spoke and of all the bowl games Notre Dame was eligible to play in they are excited about the 6 days they will spend in great weather while the rest of the nation is battling with freezing weather. Notre Dames defense has improved this season. They do a much better job of pursing ball carriers and tackling than last years squad. Hawaii does not possess the explosive offense we saw with last years Sugar Bowl team. QB Colt Brennan and 4 of their wide receivers from last years squad ran out of eligibility. The Warriors lost 3 games to defensive minded teams in Cincinnati and San Jose St at home and Oregon St on the road. An awful loss was a 34-7 defeat at Utah St. Take the best defense in this game and that belongs with the Fighting Irish who will be poised to finish the year at 7-6. Take Notre Dame +1 1/2.
